WAT?
Volgens vooraanstaande economen is een heffing op koolstof/CO2 de beste manier om onze maatschappij naar een co2 arme economie om te buigen.
DOEN DUS(?)
Niet zo snel...
Niemand houdt van belastingen. België is al koploper wat dat betreft. Een Carbon Tax zou buitengewoon onpopulair worden, als er al de politieke moed zou zijn om hem te implementeren.
WAT DAN WEL?
Door de BTW (21%) af te schaffen hebben we marge om een Carbon Tax in te voeren.
Zo blijft de algemene belastingsbasis dezelfde.
AND?
Nu heeft de consument het stuur in handen. CO2 arme producten en diensten zullen goedkoper worden dan vandaag, terwijl CO2 intensieve zaken duurder worden.
Zo zijn we op weg naar een CO2 arme samenleving, zonder er zelf armer van te worden.
